The proposed South Campus Vivarium Building project includes the demolition and removal of an existing 60,000 sf Forensic Building and the construction of a new 3 story 50,000sf animal research building. The new building will replace the large animal housing facility and surgical suite currently located on 9th floor of Building J and G. The new building will provide additional capacity for rodent housing. The new facility will also contain a penthouse level to house the mechanical equipment and have a 6’-0” high crawl space below most of the lower level to allow access to utilities.

Major program components of the new building will include the following:

• Large animal housing and procedure rooms
• Large animal surgical suite
• Rodent housing and procedure rooms
• Cage washing suite.
• Men’s and Woman’s Locker rooms on the first floor
• Offices and support spaces for staff and animal care operation.
